To Grandma from Dylan

Writing this was very difficult, because in many ways, I haven’t really been able to accept that she’s gone. A little more than a month ago, my other Grandmother passed away after a long fight with Alzheimer’s. Grandma Jane immediately emailed all of us offering us her condolences and her love. She was there for us then and I can’t bring myself to believe that she’s not with us now. Even as a kid, it was difficult
to say goodbye to Grandpa Peter, and I don’t think I can bring myself to say
goodbye again. What I will say is this: Thank you.

Thank you for loving me unconditionally, even when I was misbehaving.

Thank you for teaching me so much, for helping me know when it was okay to be a kid and when I needed to be a grown up.

Thank you for shoving hiking boots on my feet and dragging me up a mountain because you knew I needed the exercise and you knew I would enjoy the wind and the view at the top.

Thank you for being a part of my life, even though most of the time, I was an ocean away.

Thank you for not being only my grandma, but my teacher, my coach, and one of my best friends.

I love you and I miss you.
